Tips on setting up the raised foil

Our Raised Foil cards are printed on 16pt card stock, laminated on both sides with 1.5mil soft velvet laminate, which gives them a substantial thickness of 19pt. For best results, please make sure that foil coverage is less than 50%. Otherwise, the foil will be heavy and won’t hold. Smallest Font size for raised foil cards are 10pt.

As part of the package, creating a Raised Foil business card should involve a Raised Foil Mask file that works with the normal CMYK print file. The mask is used as a guide to where the foil will be applied. Programs like Illustrator or Photoshop are recommended as the mask file should be created in vector-based. It’s highly recommended that you use solid black invariants such as C 0%, M 0%, Y 0% and K 100% to show where you prefer the foil. Avoid using shadows, grayscale, or glows as they will not be as strong and the color white will show no foil. Refrain from knockouts. They may seem nicer but you end up experiencing a shift of up to 1/16" once the foil is applied.
